Lodge Music

One important feature of masonic lodges is the music that accompanies the various rituals; usually played on an organ. The pieces below are used in Lodge 19:

Oh Master-Builder Lord of All
Whose love hath made our hearts as one
We gather at our brethren's call
To consecrate this task begun.

Reception Ode (EA) (Music "Sandon") Click for abc midi image
Lead kindly light amid the encircling gloom
Lead thou me on,
The night is dark, and I am far from home
Lead thou me on.
Keep thou my feet I do not ask to see
The distant scene one step enough for me

Perambulation (EA) (Music "Old 100th") Click for abc midi image
All people that on earth do dwell
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice,
Him serve with mirth, His praise forth tell
Come ye before him and rejoice.

The Blessing
The Lord bless thee and keep thee;
the Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee;
the Lord lift up His countenance upon thee and give thee peace.

Light (EA,FC,MM) (Music "Moscow") Click for abc midi image
Thou, Whose almighty word
Chaos and darkness heard
And took their flight;
Boundless as oceans tide
Rolling in fullest pride,
Through the earth far and wide
Let there be light.

Reception Ode (FC) (Music "French") Click for abc midi image
I to the hills will lift mine eyes,
From whence doth come mine aid.
My safety cometh from the Lord,
Who heaven and earth hath made

Perambulation (FC) (Music "Norman") Click for abc midi image
Courage brother! Do not stumble,
Though the path be dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble;
Trust in God and do the right.

Let the road be rough and dreary,
And it's end far out of sight;
Foot it bravely strong or weary;
Trust in God and do the right

Reception Ode (MM,Mark) (Music "Eventide") Click for abc midi image
Abide with me! Fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide!
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Perambulation (MM,Mark)
Psalm cxxxiii
Behold how good a thing it is
And how becoming well,
Together such as brethren are
In unity to dwell.

Like precious ointment on the head,
That down the beard did flow,
Ev'n Aaron's beard. And to the skirts
Did of his garments go.

As Hermon's dew, the dew that doth
On Sion's hills descend;
For there the blessing God commands,
Life that shall never end.

Tools (EA,FC,MM,Mark) (Music "Diligence") Click for abc midi image
Work for the night is coming!
Under the sunset skies,
Whilst their bright tints are glowing,
Work for the daylight flies.
Work till the last beam fadeth,
Fadeth to shine no more;
Work for the night is coming,
When man's work is o'er.

Closing Ode (Music "Duke Street") Click for abc midi image
We lay the sure foundation stone
With level, compass, plumb and square;
We rest our hope on thee alone
God bless this holy house of prayer.
