A deputation of ten brethren headed by R.W.M.Bro.Craig Rodger attended Lodge Lindores to claim the "Travelling Gavel". We witnessed an excellent working of a second degree with a progressing candidate. Very interesting to see the slight variations form our own fellowcraft degree. We were very warmly welcomed into the lodge room. After exchanging fraternal greetings, a formal request for possession of the "Travelling Gavel" was made. This request was granted by the Lindores R.W.M. and the gavel was presented to the Lodge Coupar o' Fife R.W.M. This is the first time Lodge 19 has been in possession of the "Travelling Gavel", so we are really quite pleased with ourselves. When the labours of the evening were over, we enjoyed the hospitality of Lodge Lindores, to round off a most enjoyable evening |

The work of the evening was a third degree for Bro. Gowans, the first ’live’ candidate for three years, so it was seen as well worthy to support their lodge on this occasion. We were, as always, warmly welcomed by the brethren and even more warmly when we took our seats in the temple as the heating system had gone into overdrive. Bro. Gowans seemed suitably nervous and the sweat of his brow could have been down to that or the heating. The main work of the evening was conducted by R.W.M. Tom Jamieson with Bro. Dave Reekie in the west and Bro. Chick Nicol in the south. They did a very fine degree considering that they had last minute call offs and had to hastily re-shuffle the duties. Contributions by Danny Cuthbert and the stalwart of 304, Bobby Gillan made sure all went smoothly. King Robert de Bruce go through all the symbolism at the grave side, which is very interesting for those that have not witnessed it before. One new nuance, for this degree was when the temperature in the temple plummeted like someone hit with a heavy setting maul. The W.S.W. disappeared under the stage to try to fix the heating, but to no avail. He did, however, re-appear at all the right moments The new Master Mason was congratulated by all the home and visiting brethren and seemed to have come through the ordeal without too much mental trauma. The hospitality after the work was up to its usual high standard at Ladybank. the fruit dumpling going down particularly well. (IY IG) |

We were very warmly welcomed into the lodge. We witnessed an excellent working of a First Degree by the R.W.M. and his office bearers. The R.W.M. of St.Andrew 25 fulfilled a promise that he would wear a lodge 19 tie for the evening, if more than 5 brethren attended from lodge 19. The tie had been presented to the R.W.M. when he took part in degree at lodge 19 on the occasion of a visit of brethern from Newry. This gesture was greatly appreciated by the lodge 19 brethren. When the labours of the evening had ended we enjoyed the hospitality of Lodge St.Andrew 25. (CR RWM) |

A long overdue return visit to our sister Lodge in the town. A fine "Second, Square or Fellowcraft Degree" was worked in good order with substitute candidate Bro.Kenny Grieve, who fought his way down through the Burnturk snowdrifts to attend. Good to see various visitors, particularly Brethren from "Lodge St.Clair of Balbeggie # 867" Thornton, and the redoubtable Bro Donald McGuire PM of Lodge "St.Clair of Dysart # 520", with whom I had a most interesting and informative discussion. It is always good to visit and meet so many familiar faces, some whom you can't always put a name to, but of course that will improve with time. Such matters can only serve to hopefully increase the Harmony within the Masonic Fraternity in Cupar |

My first visit to this Lodge in the old "railway town" of Thornton where cousins lived and where others worked on the steam trains.Despite a freezing cold night with thick ice all around, a very warm welcome at the local bowling club where the Lodge meets. The expected candidate for initiation called off late-Bro.Winston Day PM "Lodge St.Regulus # 77" was happy to stand in.A very fine working of the "First Degree" foll owed.Congratulations to all who were involved. Some slight but interesting differences in comparison to ours-especially the explanation of the "grip".Unable to remain long after due to work, but a nice visit which I'd be keen to repeat. |
