DA 28/4/11 Lodge Spey 527 Made a long awaited visit to this Lodge in Kingussie, Badenoch. Just by chance I was making a regular fishing/camping trip to the area-which is my favourite spot in the Highlands. Very warmly welcomed by the Brethren who expressed surprise and great interest in my visit. Was tested in the EA and MM-the latter being the Labour of the evening.Well worked MM Degree-somewhat different to what I am used to. Interesting features were the "Salute to the empty chair"-for the Fallen of 2 World Wars, and the Collection taken in the Deacon's Aprons! Thoroughly enjoyed the Harmony after when the locals continued their warm weklcome. Was able to promote the use of electronic communication which was well received. Thanks for the Mark Token RWM!This Lodge is remote and isolated and needs more visitors-I can certainly recommend the trip which will not be the last for me! Thank you Kingussie Brethren for a wonderful visit!

Along with Kevin Thompson, Dougie Abercrombie and Gary Clark I received a very warm welcome to Lodge 400. The lodge had a difficulty due to the candidate being unable to attend due to work commitments and weather difficulties. However, Bro Gary stepped into the breach and volunteered as candidate. This allowed the OBs of 400 to display their skills and ritual work and this was very enjoyable. Bro Kevin had been invited to deliver the final charge which he did in an excellent manner and this rounded off a very good degree. It was good to assist Lodge 400 as a small gesture for the help 400 had given us with the cork degree. This enthusiastic lodge is well worth a visit. MF PM

There we witnessed a second degree worked by R.W.M. Bro. A.Wilkie and a team of reigning Masters from the 'Wednesday Lodges'. This being the fifth Wednesday of the month, facilitated our joint meeting.
The meeting was well attended and the young candidate 'loaned' by Lodge Rothes, must have been impressed.

Accompanied by PMs J.D.,P.S.,M.F. and Bros. K.T.,J.I. and I.Y. I visited Lodge 236 on the occasion of the 200th. anniversary of the lodge. 140 brethren signed the tyle and there were brethren from 37 different lodges.
The R.W.Prov. G.M. of Lanarkshire Upper Ward was there with a deputation from Prov. Grand Lodge of Lanarkshire Upper Ward.
The Re-dedication Service was carried out by a deputation from the Grand Lodge of Scotland, which was lead by the Depute Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Scotland Bro. Hugh Bryson.
The ceremony took the form of The Threefold Blessing. This was an excellent ceremony carried out with great dignity.
When the lodge was closed the brethren assembled outside still in masonic regalia. The brethren then paraded led by a pipe band to the local war memorial in Forth. A masonic wreath was laid and the brethren paraded back to the lodge premises. The Masonic Walk has been an important tradition at Forth for 200 years.
At the lodge we were served an fine meal. This was followed by many excellent toasts. A harmony was to follow but unfortunately due to the lateness of the hour we had to head for home. The memorable day was enjoyed by all.

The work of the evening was a third degree for Bro. Gowans, the first ’live’ candidate for three years, so it was seen as well worthy to support their lodge on this occasion. We were, as always, warmly welcomed by the brethren and even more warmly when we took our seats in the temple as the heating system had gone into overdrive. Bro. Gowans seemed suitably nervous and the sweat of his brow could have been down to that or the heating.
The main work of the evening was conducted by R.W.M. Tom Jamieson with Bro. Dave Reekie in the west and Bro. Chick Nicol in the south. They did a very fine degree considering that they had last minute call offs and had to hastily re-shuffle the duties. Contributions by Danny Cuthbert and the stalwart of 304, Bobby Gillan made sure all went smoothly. King Robert de Bruce go through all the symbolism at the grave side, which is very interesting for those that have not witnessed it before.
One new nuance, for this degree was when the temperature in the temple plummeted like someone hit with a heavy setting maul. The W.S.W. disappeared under the stage to try to fix the heating, but to no avail. He did, however, re-appear at all the right moments
The new Master Mason was congratulated by all the home and visiting brethren and seemed to have come through the ordeal without too much mental trauma.
The hospitality after the work was up to its usual high standard at Ladybank. the fruit dumpling going down particularly well. (IY IG)

A long overdue return visit to our sister Lodge in the town. A fine "Second, Square or Fellowcraft Degree" was worked in good order with substitute candidate Bro.Kenny Grieve, who fought his way down through the Burnturk snowdrifts to attend. Good to see various visitors, particularly Brethren from "Lodge St.Clair of Balbeggie # 867" Thornton, and the redoubtable Bro Donald McGuire PM of Lodge "St.Clair of Dysart # 520", with whom I had a most interesting and informative discussion. It is always good to visit and meet so many familiar faces, some whom you can't always put a name to, but of course that will improve with time. Such matters can only serve to hopefully increase the Harmony within the Masonic Fraternity in Cupar

First Degree working which was very well done. I was made very welcome and received Lodge hospitality. I was charged to return fraternal greetings to my mother lodge. Well worth further visits.

3rd; unique(?) lodge in that for historical reasons the WSW sits in the North, although still described as the West. Excellent 3rd Tracing Board given by PM from Lodge St. Andrew No 25. Interesting degree quite different to our own in several respects.
