Trip to Newry
Grand Lodge Dubline

Six Brethren from Lodge Coupar o' Fife No. 19 + Bro.Bill Dewar, RWM Lodge Dunearn # 400,and Bro.Joe Preece,Lodge St.Patrick # 295(IC) travelled over to the City of Newry, Co.Down,Northern Ireland, at the weekend, to help celebrate the 275th Anniversary of St.Patrick's Lodge # 77, Newry. Yet again, a brilliant weekend was enjoyed by all. We were met and transported by Bro.Edgar McClenaghan, who did a brilliant job. The accommodation at the Downshire Hotel in Banbridge was first class-as was the welcome to the local town hall by the Council Leader Junior McCrum, DUP, and Councillor Ian Burns, UUP. We attended Services Lodge # 174 meeting on Friday evening where we were given a splendid welcome. There many tourists were to witness Irish Ritual for the first time in a full hall, with many distinguished visitors from Co.Down Provincial and local Lodges.  After the meeting we all enjoyed a wonderful harmony in the Masonic Hall. Suitable gifts were exchanged, songs were sung, poems were recited, with much enjoyment shared. On Saturday, after the traditional Ulster Fry in the Masonic Hall,2 coaches travelled down to Grand Lodge of Ireland, Dublin, for the next part of the adventure. More details to come with photos.

Tracing Boards

On 21st Sept we had a night with a difference. The three Tracing Board lectures were delivered to our newest MMs, by WJW K Thompson, DM A Cowe and M Ford PM. However these were then followed by two explanatory lectures accompanied by Powerpoint slides. The first, by T Marshall PM, explained the meaning of the 1st TB and the other, by WJW K Thompson demystified the 3rd TB. There was a good turn out from far afield and the feedback after was very positive. Any Lodges interested in more information on this fascinating aspect of Freemasonry should contact the Webmaster K. Thompson, in the first instance. Contact details are on this site. For those who missed it, the 3rd TB lecture is now online and may be viewed here:

200th & 275th Anniversary Celebrations

The Lodge was packed and many stayed for the harmony afterwards. The re-dedication ceremony was expertly performed by Provincial Grand Master Tom Bradley and his office bearers. We were honoursed to have two brethren all the way from the USA as special guests - Hon Member Roger Wainright PM Lodge 19 in Minneapolis and Bro Roni Zulu PM North Holywood Lodge No 542 in California. Some of the keen quizzers who filled the hall......

Sat 19th saw our second attempt at hosting a quiz night to gather funds for the local Girl Guides. The first time we had to cancel due to bad weather. The night was a great success with a packed hall closely contesting a multi-media filled evening, with questions on a range of topics incuding music, famous faces, flags and movies. The night was finally one by Team Titan - 7 points clear of Cupar Curlers, with Bearly there just behind in third place....a great effort from them as they only had 3 players on the night! The Lodge formally thanked Bros Kevin Thompson and Dougie Abercrombie for putting it all together, and all the rest who helped behind the scenes. The Guides will be presented with the funds at a later date.
